Your customer portal, website and internal web apps are often the most exposed part of your business. The OWASP Top 10, a widely used industry reference, highlights the categories of risk that cause most real-world breaches.
Common risk areas
| Risk | What it means in plain English |
|---|---|
| Broken access control | A user can see or change data that is not theirs |
| Injection | Attackers smuggle commands in through forms or URLs |
| Weak authentication | Easy-to-guess passwords, no 2FA, poor session handling |
| Security misconfiguration | Default settings, debug modes or open admin pages left on |
| Outdated components | Old libraries and plugins with known vulnerabilities |
| Sensitive data exposure | Data not encrypted properly in transit or at rest |
| Insufficient logging | Attacks happen and nobody notices |
